With fun animal sounds all around and plenty to do, little ones will discover what a busy place the farm can be. "Neigh" says the horse,"baaa" answers the sheep, "cluck!" chirps the chicken, "moo" ... says the cow, "oink!" ... squeals the pig. They'll even discover what some of the animals feel like, when they pet the "cottony" cow, "hairy" horse, "woolly" sheep, and the "squiggly" piggly tail! From "furry" to "fuzzy" and everything in between, Touch & Feel Animals are a fun way to introduce children to a world of interesting textures and help develop their sense of touch.pAs toddlers grow, they'll learn about life on a farm that's just their size, with Farmer Jed and his animal friends! The farm includes Farmer Jed, cow, sheep, horse and pig; the chicken stays attached to the barn. Figures are surface washable with a clean, damp cloth. All pieces store inside. This playset also comes with a special free sampler DVD featuring three charming stories of the Little People friends. Playset requires 3 "AA" (LR6) alkaline batteries, not included.

We bought this version with the touch & feel fur, we have not had the problems that other people mention. Maybe because I gave this to our daughter when she turned 2, so she doesn't put the animals in her mouth. She LOVES feeling the fur, she makes the horse's mane tickle her nose! She got so much for her birthday, and this is her favorite toy by far. She probably plays with this 90 minutes a day total. She even wants the farmer & pig to go in her crib during her nap. First thing in the morning when she wakes up she says "play farm!" I find it very durable and have not had any problems with this toy that other people mention. This is the best toy purchase I have made for her in all of her 2 years. I'm going to buy more Little People stuff for her in the future.

Fisher Price has two farms represented here. The first has a DVD, (pic # 4) made in 2006 and contains lead in the facial paint, and does not have the 'touch and feel' feature. Now, (see pic 5 from left) the 2008 model, no lead supposedly, and has soft fur glued on the animals. Amazon sends the one from 2006 which had lead in the paint and your child will most likely put the toy in his or her mouth. Beware as neither Fisher Price or Amazon were willing to remedy the sale of this product when notified.
Another great step for Little People

I purchased this for my daughter to keep her entertained when I was on bed rest. It worked like a charm. The animals are still her favorite toy to take along when we go anywhere. I think the touch and feel animals make it even better. I've read other reviews about how the fur makes them hard to clean but I don't agree. Even after repeated washing the fur is still in great shape. I think that the touch and feel animals make this toy even more fun because they provide nice tactile stimulation. I would definately recommend this toy. It was a real life saver for me.
Fisher Price continues to excel.

The item purchased is exactly what I would expect from Fisher Price...an excellent teaching opportunity in a very fun way. My granddaughter, who is one-year old, loves animals and this farm has all the animals that you would typically know to be farm animals, plus the sounds that they make are so realistic. The animals are made solid enough for her little hands to hold easily, but too big to be swallowed when she feels she needs to "taste" them, as all little ones love to put things in their mouths. I know this farm will provide hours of learning fun for her; even her big sister who is almost four-years old loves it, too! A great toy!

I am 37 and had the wooden version of this when I was little. Mine is now at "grandma's" house. We bought this plastic version for our 1.5 year old son, and he LOVES it! He has played with it so much and laughs hysterically at the features! Worth every penny!
Wonderful toy for babies and toddlers

My 15-month-old loves this toy! He takes the animals out and then puts them back into the barn in different places (sorting) and he loves when he finds a door or button that makes an animal sound. He is learning the names and sounds of all the different animals, and when we saw a cow the other day at a farm he new exactly what it was :-)
Big hit

The Little People toys are pretty pricey for us to buy new, so we don't get them often, but this was a special purchase for my 16 month old. He plays with it every day and makes all the animal noises with the correct animal. It's a good size for his other little toys to fit in as well, so I frequently find the silo filled with Buz Lightyear, Bob the Tomato, and various other characters visiting the farm animals on their day off. He likes petting the horse's mane and the sheep's fuzzy head, but the extra fluff isn't that big of an incentive if you already have the old animals without fur.
Downsides, I think the rooster is a bit tough for him to slide back and forth, and I agree that the silo is way too easy to remove from the farm. But overall it's a good purchase for a toddler! |
WONDERFULL FUN CUTE and very entertaining toy

HI, purchased this for my sons, and must say compared to the older version so much better, more interactive sounds, things to do, and better easier to get to, a must for all kids!
Lots of fun for a toddler

My (now nearly two-year old) daughter received this farm for Christmas and it has been one of her favorite things to play with since then. It has a number of features that invite even young children to interact with it, including doors that open (and make animal sounds), gates that snap on and off, a barn that the animals can "hide" in until you lift the sliding door, and the most fun feature of all - the rooster that slides and knocks the animals off the hay loft, while making a rooster sound or playing a song, depending which way you slide it. I have not had any of the problems cited by some of the other reviewers - I think the "touch and feel" animals are adorable. I haven't had a problem with keeping them clean. The silo does detach, but it is easy to snap back on and does not come off too easily.
